Every device consists of numerous parts. With the help of these parts, the device functions properly and according to user’s will. Some parts function for inner software while some are linked to function for outer hardware to operate. But one strict thing, humans need to learn these parts or functions to operate the device properly. A camera lens has different parts that work together with camera as well to do a proper job for photographer. Lens itself has installed CPU and other software in it to work accordingly. So, here are the key parts of a camera lens that collaborate with camera and independently.

Knowing Parts of Lens

Filter Thread: In protective manners, filters are commonly used in front of a camera lens to protect it from water, dust or any other harsh thing that can break or damage lens. Many lenses have different threads of different diameter. Not only this part of lens work for protective purpose, but for controlling, adding, editing different kinds of photography purposes. A polarizer filter reduces harsh sunlight as well as has the anti-glare attribute.
Focus Ring: The very first ring in front side, which is only used for the purpose to focus things manually. This ring is automatically locked if you set the lens on Auto-focus mode. Auto-focus mode let the lens to focus automatically based on environmental situation. But if you set on Manual-focus, this ring gets unlocked and can be adjusted to focus what you want.
Zoom Ring: Situated in the middle of a lens, this ring has essential role operating the lens. Almost every lens has this zoom ring to zoom the “to be taken” picture except prime lenses which have fixed focal length.
Aperture Ring: Unlike the other rings, this one has the quality to control aperture manually from the ring. Most cameras offer to adjust the aperture from inner setting not by a ring. But prime lenses have a bonus point to hold the aperture ring to control it manually from outside the lens.
Lens Mount: The part which is specially designed to be get locked and connected with camera body. There are numerous connectivity and locking pins that are necessary for a lens to connect with camera. There’s a dot on specific place on lens as well as on camera body, user need to first connect lens’s dot in direction of camera’s dot then turn the lens anti-clockwise to lock it.
Image Stabilization Control: First, let me explain you about the image stabilization. This function has a top priority for photographers as the name explains itself “Image Stabilization”. This part of lens stabilizes the image optically while shooting something to reduce the shaky effect. Typically, shaky effect distorts the image which ruins all sharpness within the image and your efforts too while shooting as well as in post-processing method. Photographers try to hold their breath while taking photos to get the clearer result. This facility stabilizes the image so that the photographer can easily capture the image without holding their breath.
Auto-Focus/Manual Focus: Switching on one side, the lens will shoot in Auto-focus. Means the lens itself will tries to capture the subject near to it or whatever the subject looks bright to the eye of camera. In this mode, photographer let the camera to handle all focusing subject independently. But in Manual mode, the camera turns off its Auto-focus mode. So, the photographer can adjust the focusing point according to their need in case if Auto-focus doesn’t point the subject which you’re trying to.
